Four suspected bandits were shot dead by a multi-agency security team at Kirima in Laikipia County by police officers who were searching for cattle that had been stolen from Mugie Ranch in Relit village.
According to the area Deputy County Commissioner John Orata, the bandits defied an order to surrender leading to a shootout between them and security officers. Police recovered a G3 rifle, an M-16 assault rifle, an AK-47 and four double pouches of an AK-47 rifle from the dead bandits.
The four bodies were taken to Nyahururu County and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem, as security officers pursued other raiders who fled the onslaught.
