A suspect has been arrested over the fatal shooting of a female National Hospital Insurance Fund on Kaunda Street, Nairobi.
The man, a licensed gun holder and was traced to his home in Kenol, Murang’a where he has been in the past week.
He denied shooting Mary Gathenya on February 13 as she walked home.
Police however suspect he discharged the gun by mistake. He was disarmed his rifle which has been handed over to the ballistic experts for analysis.
Witnesses said the man has a girlfriend on Jubilee Insurance Building which is opposite the site where Gathenya was killed.
He however denied being present at the building that day.
Police are now trying to place him at the scene of the crime as part of the probe.
