Opposition leader Raila Odinga has asked ODM politicians who want to leave his party to pack their belongings instead of issuing threats or wrecking his political outfit from within. The Azimio leader has in particular singled out nominated MP John Mbadi who two weeks ago declared that he was ready to resign as ODM party chairman.

“I have not heard anything that John Mbadi wants to resign. Party elections will be done this year. Those who want to leave should simply leave,” Raila has said last night in an interview with Ramogi TV.

“When Mbadi wants to leave he will tell me. When someone is angry, he can react the way he did, I doubt if this is what Mbadi wants,” said Raila.

Last week, Mbadi who has been accused of sabotaging the party said he was ready to leave his position and he had already told Raila of his intentions.

“Those who think being chairman is so important to them let them offer themselves to lead, I am very ready to leave the position to them, right now I am the chair but I am not dying to be the chair, I have done by bit they took away my position as the minority leader,” he said.

“I am still alive, they can still take away the chairmanship, I will still be alive. I want to repeat it for the record, I want to leave this position of ODM chair,” Mbadi declared.

Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino who has had problems with Mbadi before has seen this as an opportunity to declare his intention to lead ODM.

“We wish you well Hon. John Mbadi as you step down from ODM Party Chairmanship. It is now my time to take over from where you have left and steer the party to greater heights and prosperity. Youth Power,” said on his Facebook page.
