Comedian Eric Omondi has been arrested while leading demonstrations outside Parliament buildings in Nairobi. The comedian was leading a group of shirtless men demanding that the government should lower the cost of living.
The youths were carrying placards written “high cost of living” high cost of electricity” “stima juu and “tax juu.” They demanded an audience with speaker Moses Wetangula.
Police who were manning the building ordered the comedian and the protestors to disperse but their demands fell on deaf ears forcing them to use teargas.
The comedian was arrested in the ensuing melee.
