The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has been elected the president of the Eastern Africa Association of Prosecutors (EAAP).
Haji was elected at the closure of the EAAP 10th AGM and annual conference held in Kampala, Uganda.
The prosecutors pledged to work closely to set and raised the standards of professional conduct and ethics for Prosecutors in Africa and promote the rule of law, fairness, impartiality and respect for human rights as well as improve regional cooperation to combat crime.
Haji will be able to advance innovative strategies to tackle transnational organized crime; enhance Regional and International cooperation and collaboration in the prosecution of transnational organized crimes such as terrorism, corruption cybercrime and human trafficking among others.

On his part, Haji thanked EAAP members for electing him while pledging to strengthen regional cooperation in the Prosecution of transnational organized crimes
