Junior Sagini, the three-year-old boy whose eyes were gouged off in a bizzare incident in Kisii last year has told the court today that it was his grandmother that did it in a shocking turn of events.
Three suspects arrested in connection to master shocking saga are currently facing charges of causing grevious harm.
The trio, Alex Ochogo (Cousin to Sagini), Pacifica Nyakerario (Aunt) and Rael Nyakerario (grandma) appeared today before Senior Resident Magistrate, Christine Ogweno.
The three were charged that between the 13th and 14th day of December 2022 at Ikuruma location, Marani Subcounty within Kisii county, attempted unlawfully to cause the death of Brighton Junior Sagini by gouging out both his eyes contrary to section 220 of the Penal Code.

Sagini who had been staying with her grandmother and father in their Marani home in Kisii County, was attacked and his eyes gouged out before being dumped in a maize plantation on December 13, 2022.
The boy’s grandmother who now been identified by the minor as the person who plucked out his eyes initially said that Sagini, had gone to fetch water on from a nearby spring.
He was in the company of other children but it is said that he threw his jerrycan into a nearby thicket and started running away.
The granny told the media that she went to the spring searching for her grandson, but he was nowhere to be seen.
“We tried to look for him but all our efforts proved futile. The following day, his elder brother who had gone to cut grass for the cows pounced on him in a maize plantation and he came home panting to inform us. We rushed to the scene and found the boy writhing in pain and his eyes gouged out,” Ms Mayieka said.
