Kabarak University has suspended its IT Manager following the hacking of its Facebook page by a suspected Indonesian teenager who has demanded Sh68,000 in order to return the account to the institution.

“I also have another option you guys just give me 500 dollars and I’ll bring this page back, the offer is cheap for a big university,” posted hacker on the page this morning after making a series of weird posts like this one made on Saturday.

“Hello everyone here I just want to clarify about this account that was hacked, to be honest, I was just having fun so don’t take the posts I publish seriously, once again I’m sorry,” he said.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry Kiplangat has assured all stakeholders that they are taking necessary measures to regain control of the page.

“We want to assure our stakeholders and the general public that we are taking all necessary measures to regain control of our page and prevent any further unauthorized access,” said Prof Kiplangat.

“We urge our followers and prospective students to disregard information posted by these criminals and to contact us directly through our official website or other verified channels,” he said.

“We understand that this situation has caused significant disruption to our online presence through our Facebook page, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.”

We heave been told that the institution has in the wake of the incident suspended its IT Manager.
