A businessman in Ngurubani town, Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County, is recovering from severe injuries after being shot by gangsters.

The incident occurred as he was closing his chemist at Piai along the Kirinyaga-Embu border.

Mwea East police boss James Mutua told sauce.co.ke that the trader was approached by three individuals.

Two of them forcefully entered his vehicle, while the third followed on a motorbike. They then instructed the businessman to drive to his home.

Upon arriving at his residence, the security guard became suspicious of the situation. The gang members resorted to firing gunshots into the air, causing panic and chaos.

In the midst of the commotion, the businessman was shot in the head before the assailants swiftly escaped on their motorbike.

Fortunately, locals discovered the injured businessman near Wanguru Stadium and rushed him to Mwea Mission Hospital.

A medical examination revealed that a bullet was lodged in his head, indicating the severity of the attack.

The incident has understandably alarmed the community, prompting them to call upon the Wanguru police station for enhanced nighttime patrols.
