Denis Wambua Masavu, former Kisau/Kiteta Ward MCA in Mbooni, Makueni County was Thursday arraigned in a Nairobi Court charged with threatening to kill the current Kisau/Kiteta ward MCA.
Masavu, popularly known as Nzeve Nzau (Breath of Fresh Air), is said to have threatened to kill Darius Kioko Mainga, the current MCA, claiming Mainga stole his victory in the 2022 general election.
Masavu also claimed that Mainga bribed a Makueni Court to rule in his favour.
According to the charge sheet, Masavu on March 11,2023 at Mbooni in Makueni verbally threatened to kill the current member of county assembly, Darius Kioko Mainga.
The former Wiper party MCA is alleged to have been angered by a Court’s judgement that upheld Mainga’s victory while slapping him (Wambua) with Sh1 million cost for the suit.
Masavu is alleged to have uttered “My votes were stolen. I went to Tawa Law Court but later realized that there was no court in Tawa. Only money changes hands. I cannot surrender. It is either the current MCA dies, or I die!” Masavu said.
“My votes cannot be stolen and then I am ordered to pay somebody one million. It’s not possible!” the former MCA is alleged to have added.
It is either the current MCA dies, or I die!

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi in Milimani Law Courts, the former MCA denied the charges and was released on Ksh 500,000 bond.
The case will proceed on August 10, for pretrial.
During nominations in the run up to the 2022 elections, Wiper party gave Masavu a direct ticket, locking out Mainga.
Mainga ran as independent and won with a landslide. Masavu challenged the election outcome in court and lost.
