Mediamax limited, the Kijabe street media house that runs People Daily, K24 TV and Milele FM has not paid its correspondents for the last five months.
The situation has triggered a go slow greatly affecting operations as most correspondents are no longer able to work without pay.
Even worse, permanent staff are still working at half pay since Covid 19 struck in May 2020 with no viable explanation from management.
Correspondents are the lowest ranked employees in the newsroom structure.
They are usually paid per published story which is measured by ruler to establish the amount of space it has occupied in a newspaper.
After going without pay for months now, most correspondents have stopped filing stories all together. Some of them have been kicked out of their houses while the rest cannot afford bus fare to work and are working from home.
