In Kisii, a local preacher hailing from Bomet County has been apprehended alongside a 17-year-old Form Four student while purportedly attempting to board a matatu en route to Kisumu.

The minor, a pupil at Ngererit Secondary School in Bomet, had been declared missing by her family, who had reported the matter to the Mogogosiek Police Station in the North Rift county.

Acting upon information furnished by drivers affiliated with the Matatu Five Star Sacco at the Kisii bus terminal, law enforcement officers moved swiftly to intercept the pair.

The drivers had alerted the authorities after observing the 25-year-old pastor, identified as Kipkoech Rotich, accompanying the young girl as they boarded a different vehicle headed towards Kisumu.

Accounts suggest that the pastor had been invited to Ngererit Secondary School to deliver sermons. However, following the engagement, he allegedly absconded with the girl. Subsequently, the duo managed to elude law enforcement efforts aimed at locating them.

The couple was taken into custody at the Nyanchwa Police Station, where they are presently detained. Plans are underway to transfer them to the Mogogosiek Police Station for further legal proceedings.
