Kiambu authorities are currently probing a deeply distressing case involving the demise of a Kahawa Sukari Deliverance Church evangelist, who tragically passed away in his residence a mere day before his scheduled wedding.
Kiambu police commander Perminus Muchangi informed sauce.co.ke that the investigation has been transferred to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). The body of the late Fred Gitau is set for a post-mortem examination at the Kiambu County Referral Hospital on Monday.
Fred Gitau, slated to exchange vows at the Deliverance Church Kahawa Sukari on Saturday, was discovered deceased within his home premises on Friday.
Family members recounted that Gitau had been dropped off at his home by close friends on Thursday evening. To their utmost dismay, Gitau was found lifeless the following morning, with froth emanating from his mouth. Intriguingly, the house was locked from the inside.
Upon police intervention, a young boy was utilized to access the house through a window on that fateful Friday. The police, having accessed the scene, proceeded to document the circumstances and remove the deceased’s body.
Adding a disturbing layer to the situation, a close family relative divulged that Gitau had sent a text message to his sister on Thursday evening, expressing concerns for his safety. He urged his sister to contact the police should anything untoward happen to him, implicating a potential threat.
The police were reportedly briefed about this ominous message by the concerned family relative.
Described as a devout “prayer warrior” at the Deliverance Church, Gitau was known for abstaining from alcohol consumption and was on the cusp of realizing his aspiration of becoming a pastor.
Gitau’s wedding to Joyce Waithera was scheduled to be solemnized at the Deliverance Church Kahawa, followed by a reception at Cardinal Odunga grounds in Kahawa Sukari.
According to family sources, Gitau owned a taxi car, which he employed for his cab business. Remarkably, the vehicle was parked outside his residence after his friends had dropped him off.
The heartbreaking incident has left Gitau’s family and community baffled, given his achievements and prosperous background. A family member expressed, “Coming from an affluent family and excelling in his pursuits, we are shocked by what might have transpired on the night of Thursday.”
The sudden and tragic loss of Fred Gitau has shaken those who knew him, casting a somber shadow over what should have been a joyful occasion.
