In a distressing incident, a 92-year-old grandmother finds herself admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) after being assaulted and raped by an unidentified assailant at her residence in Ofunyu village, Kisumu East sub-county.

Elijah Omumbo, the Chief of Central Kolwa location, has verified the incident, explaining that the suspect forcibly entered the elderly woman’s home through a window before committing this atrocious act.

Neighbors who heard commotion from her house during the night rushed to her aid, but the perpetrator had already fled the scene.

Living alone, the elderly woman was promptly taken to JOOTRH hospital for treatment following this traumatic ordeal.

Chief Omumbo has assured that the Kisumu East sub-county police are actively investigating the matter, expressing hope that the suspect will be apprehended soon.

This shocking incident has left the community in Ofunyu village in a state of disbelief, with urgent calls for swift police intervention to bring the perpetrator to justice.
