Former Pwani FM journalist Sammy Ambari, affectionately known as Mtumishi, was tragically discovered dead, having taken his own life by hanging inside his residence in Matsangoni ward, Kilifi County.
Ambari was widely recognized for hosting a popular weekly gospel radio program called “Tumsifu” on Pwani FM, which aired on Sundays from 6 pm to 9 pm. Pwani FM, based on the coast, focuses on covering regional issues.
Colleagues in the media industry fondly remembered him as a person with a great sense of humor, outgoing, and displaying strong leadership qualities.
His former employer, Pwani FM, conveyed the news of his passing via their social media platforms, confirming that he had taken his own life. “He immersed himself in the political arena after leaving Pwani FM,” the statement from Pwani FM read.
As of now, the police have not issued an official statement on the matter. Individuals close to Ambari have noted that he did not display any apparent signs of distress or illness prior to this tragic event.
