American pop star Joe Jonas has initiated divorce proceedings against Sophie Turner, marking the end of their four-year marriage.
The 34-year-old Jonas Brothers singer officially filed for divorce in Miami on a Tuesday, seeking to dissolve his union with the 27-year-old actress, known for her role as Sansa Stark in the popular series Game of Thrones. According to Jonas, the marriage has reached an irreparable state.
The divorce filing notes the presence of a prenuptial agreement between Jonas and Turner. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019 after nearly three years of dating, shares two children: a three-year-old named Willa and a second daughter, referred to as D. and aged 14 months, as mentioned in the divorce documents.
Their love story began when they connected through direct messages on Instagram in 2016. Turner revealed, “We had a lot of mutual friends, and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time. We were following each other on Instagram, and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.”
In October 2017, approximately a year into their relationship, the couple made their engagement public.
Turner expressed her joy about the engagement in April 2018, stating, “Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person, like I’d find a house that I love and want to stay in forever,” adding that finding one’s soulmate brings a deep sense of peace.
Their first marriage ceremony was a spontaneous event in Las Vegas on May 1, 2019. Held at A Little White Wedding Chapel, the couple exchanged Ring Pop wedding rings in front of their musician friends.
