Elon Musk’s social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has updated its policies to formally allow adult content and nudity.
The revised guidelines, implemented over the weekend, permit users to share sexualized content as long as it is consensual and clearly labeled.
The updated policy states that users can create, distribute, and consume material related to sexual themes, provided it is consensually produced and distributed.
“Sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression. We believe in the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content that reflects their own beliefs, desires, and experiences, including those related to sexuality,” the policy update reads.
To protect users, the exposure to graphic material will be restricted for children and adults who choose not to see it. The policy explicitly prohibits content that promotes exploitation, non-consent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors, and obscene behaviors.
