An Mpesa attendant was shot and killed during a robbery in the Tanners area of Nakuru Town.
The deceased, identified as Florida Khameta, operated an Mpesa shop next to a petrol station. According to police reports, she was attacked by unknown assailants armed with a pistol. The incident occurred at about 3 am on Tuesday.
Khameta reportedly resisted an order while in her shop, prompting the gang to open fire. She was shot in the shoulder and robbed of her belongings. Despite being rushed to Evans Hospital, she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, police launched an operation in the area, resulting in the arrest of five suspects. Authorities recovered a black bag containing an ignition key belonging to the deceased, a spent cartridge, a blank 7.62mm, and a blue jungle ground sheet. The search for the pistol used in the shooting is ongoing.
