Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has announced plans to establish a special bursary fund exclusively for widows in the county.
Speaking at Ole Ntimama Stadium, where over 5,000 widows had gathered on Saturday, Governor Ntutu highlighted that widows are often overlooked in the bursary programs of various wards, despite their children being some of the most deserving recipients.
“It has reached a time as a government we have said we shall slash a budget on bursary in every ward and set it up for these widows,” said Governor Ntutu.
The widows, who were celebrating their unity under the One Widows umbrella, shared with the county boss that since losing their husbands, they have relied heavily on the support of well-wishers.
“Our children have been missing out on these bursaries, which is why we thought coming together under one voice would help us,” said one of the widows.
Governor Ntutu urged the widows to appoint representatives to collaborate with his office in determining the modalities and budget for the bursary fund.
“I will work with these officials you have given me so that we know how much money we can get from each ward,” added Ntutu.
This initiative aims to ensure that the children of widows in Narok County receive the educational support they need through targeted bursary allocations.
