Police in Siaya County are currently investigating a shocking incident that occurred at a local Catholic church, where an unidentified man allegedly defecated on a statue of Jesus.
Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo revealed that the incident took place at St. Andrew’s Bondo Catholic Church. The disturbing act was reported at Bondo police station by the parish priest, Rev. Father Edwin Obudho.
According to Kimaiyo, further reports indicate that the statue, which held a significant place at the church altar, was reported missing. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, investigators determined that a stranger, dressed in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers, gained entry into the church hall while congregants were engrossed in prayer.
The suspect then allegedly proceeded to the upper gallery, where he had concealed the statue. Subsequently, he descended to the altar and defecated on the statue before leaving the church premises. The defaced statue was later found hidden underneath the pews.
Kimaiyo emphasized that efforts to trace the suspect are currently ongoing as the police seek to apprehend the individual responsible for this despicable act.
