Police in Naivasha have apprehended a 25-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of a supermarket manager in the lakeside town. The arrest was made within Naivasha town, with investigators revealing that the suspect had previously been involved in a relationship with the deceased.
The victim, a 38-year-old manager, was found dead in his house on May 22 after failing to report to work. His body was discovered in a severely mutilated state, prompting a police investigation.
According to sources familiar with the case, the suspect confessed to the murder, alleging betrayal by the victim as the motive for the fatal attack. The suspect reportedly used a kitchen knife during the assault, resulting in the victim’s death. Subsequently, the suspect fled the scene with personal belongings and electronic items.
Naivasha OCPD Stephen Kirui confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect was in custody pending arraignment for murder. The investigation, aided by CCTV footage and phone records, led the authorities to the suspect, who resided in close proximity to the victim.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, investigators recovered stolen items, including a TV set, a tablet, and cooking gas, along with bloodied clothes. Further interrogation of the suspect led to the discovery of the murder weapon hidden at the victim’s house.
Kirui emphasized that initial findings suggested a prior acquaintance between the suspect and the victim, facilitating the suspect’s access to the victim’s residence.
