Artist Tanasha Donna has announced the postponement of her new song’s release, initially scheduled for Friday, due to the ongoing unrest in the country following clashes between police and protesters against the 2024 Finance Bill.
In an Instagram story, Tanasha informed her fans that while she was prepared to release the new track, she decided to delay it to mourn those who lost their lives in the protests. The artist, who is also the ex-girlfriend of Diamond Platnumz, expressed uncertainty about the new release date, leaving her fans in suspense.
“My first single from my project was supposed to be released today, but we are mourning the deaths of our young heroes, until later,” Donna shared.
For the past two weeks, Nairobi and its suburbs have experienced significant unrest as Gen Z youths protested the controversial bill, declaring ‘the donkey is tired.’ Despite the peaceful nature of these protests, police have used excessive force, resulting in the deaths of several young demonstrators.
In response to the situation, the High Court recently ordered the police to refrain from using excessive force against protesters, including tear gas, water cannons, and bullets.
