The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the training of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examiners, scheduled to take place from August 18 to August 24, 2024. The training fee is set at Sh10,500, which will only be required from the shortlisted applicants who will be notified via text message (SMS) and through the portal with instructions on how to make the payments.
Examiners must meet specific qualifications to be eligible for this training. They must be practicing teachers in the relevant subject areas at the level of examination and must be registered and/or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Additionally, they must hold at least a diploma in education and have a minimum teaching experience of three years. It is also required that examiners are not under interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by the TSC. Furthermore, the examiner must be recommended by their head of institution and must be 50 years of age or below.
The training slots are limited and only qualified teachers who present all the required documents will be shortlisted for the exercise. KNEC has specified that the venue of the training will be communicated to the qualified applicants later, and the exercise will be strictly residential. Teachers who are already trained as KCSE examiners and are in the KNEC database of examiners do not need to apply.
Applicants are required to access the KNEC examiners’ portal using the link provided (https://examinersapp.knec.ac.ke). Those with CP2 accounts should log into the portal using their usernames and passwords. If they have forgotten their CP2 passwords, they should click on the ‘reset password’ button and enter their mobile number in the format (2547*) to receive a new password for logging into the system. Those without CP2 accounts should create an account and follow the instructions to acquire login credentials.
Upon successful login, applicants should complete their personal profile and save it. On the dashboard, they should click on ‘apply for training’ to view and select from the available declared vacancies.
