The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has appointed Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed as the new Minority Leader in the National Assembly. This decision was made public on Wednesday, following the nomination of Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi by President William Ruto as the new Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary.
Junet Mohamed succeeds Wandayi in the Minority Leader role, while Suba North legislator Millie Odhiambo has been appointed as the new Minority Whip, taking over from Junet Mohamed.
In addition to these appointments, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has been named the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee. This position was previously held by John Mbadi, who has been nominated as the Treasury Cabinet Secretary.
The ODM party also confirmed the formal resignation of the four party leaders recently nominated to the cabinet by President Ruto. However, the party dismissed any allegations of having entered into an agreement with President Ruto’s administration, despite these nominations.
