A Milimani Law Courts Magistrate in Nairobi yesterday convicted Pastor Peter Nyaberi Nyamboga and bank officer Boniface Wainaina Kabeu for stealing Ksh 35.8 million from an ABC bank account.
The two were arrested and charged in 2014 with the offense of stealing, contrary to Section 268 of the Penal Code. The prosecution alleged that between April 2012 and August 2014, the duo stole Ksh 35,883,591.45, the property of ABC bank.
During the trial, it was revealed that the stolen money had been deposited into Pastor Nyamboga’s account. The pastor defended himself by claiming he believed the funds were contributions from his congregants.
The court, however, found both Nyamboga and Kabeu guilty, concluding that they had conspired to misappropriate the funds. The sentencing marks the end of a case that has been ongoing for nearly a decade.
