The Director of the Kenya Meteorological Department David Gikungu on Tuesday urged Kenyans to brace for average to heavy rainfall for the next five days.
Gikungu while issuing a five-day weather forecast, revealed that regions of Western Kenya, Central Highlands, Rift Valley, Coast, and North-eastern Kenya would experience rains in both moderate and heavy amounts.
Among the counties in the said regions include; Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.
According to the weatherman, the above counties would experience rains in average amounts for three consecutive days with sunny conditions expected for the rest of the forecast period.
Similarly, the counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet were projected to experience heavy rains for the next five days.
Gikungu disclosed that the heavy rains in the above counties would be accompanied by thunderstorms. Other counties projected to experience similar weather patterns include; Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega and Vihiga.
