Meta has introduced in-stream ads and ads on Facebook reels in Kenya, officially making these monetization features available for eligible creators who produce original videos and foster community engagement.
“Every day we are inspired by the incredible African creators who use Facebook to tell their stories, connect with others, and bring people together. This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry in Kenya to earn money, whilst setting the bar high for creativity across the world and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop-shop for all creators,” stated Moon Baz, Meta’s Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey (AMET).
In-stream ads can appear before, during, or after on-demand videos, including pre-recorded content or recordings of previous livestreams. Facebook creators will earn revenue based on the performance of their original reels while entertaining their followers.
To qualify for monetization on Facebook, creators must adhere to Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies and be at least 18 years old. Additionally, for in-stream ads, creators must meet specific requirements, such as having a minimum of 5,000 followers.
These new monetization features are effective as of today, August 6, 2024.
