Fred Matiang’i, the former Cabinet Secretary in retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet , is gearing up for the 2027 Presidential race.
Matiang’i has engaged a global firm, Dickens and Madson, based in Canada, to lobby for his candidacy and strategize policies and political goals to facilitate his path to State House in 2027.
Uhuru’s former ointment is also banking on his substantial track record as the CS for Interior, Education, and ICT.
During his tenure, Matiang’i led the country through significant transitions, including the analogue to digital migration in 2014/2015 and implementing strict measures to curb exam cheating.
He is also remembered for his firm stance as the Interior CS, particularly in taming bandit activities in Kenya’s North Rift areas.
Before the 2022 elections, Matiang’i was vocal about the infiltration of incompetent leaders seeking election to sanitize themselves from potential investigations.
