Jacob Ng’etich has been appointed as the new Communications Director in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, replacing Salim Swaleh.
Ng’etich, who has already assumed the role, brings over two decades of experience in news reporting and political analysis, having worked with leading media organizations such as the Standard Group and Nation Media Group (NMG).
In his new position, Ng’etich will be responsible for overseeing communications at CS Mudavadi’s executive office, managing media relations, preparing communication materials, and ensuring consistent brand messaging across all platforms.
Ng’etich takes over from Salim Swaleh, who, along with other senior officials in Mudavadi’s office, was arrested in connection with a KSh5.8 million scandal. They were accused of facilitating fraud within the Prime CS’s office and allegedly allowing their offices to be used by unscrupulous business people for illegal activities.
In a TikTok video posted on Monday morning, an emotional Swaleh publicly apologized to his former boss after receiving no response from CS Mudavadi following the scandal.
“Good morning, your excellency. I hope this video finds you well. I decided to record this video because I have tried to reach you for the last couple of weeks without success. I sent several people to talk to you, but I have not received any feedback.”
”Your excellency, you have been like a father figure to me for the longest time I have known you. We have built an unmatched trust between us, and for the last one and a half years, I have served you with unmatched zeal. I broke the trust; I did, and I am so sorry about it. I am truly remorseful, and the last month has been incredibly difficult for me.”
