Cabinet Secretary nominee for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho, has disclosed that he is worth Sh2 billion. Joho revealed his wealth during his vetting by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, attributing his substantial net worth to property development and investments.
“Largely developed and undeveloped property, which includes my homes in Mombasa, Vipingo, Malindi, and Nairobi. Shareholding in some property holdings, shareholding in family businesses, valuables, and cash at bank,” Joho explained. He emphasized that the disclosed wealth represents his personal share and not that of his family.
Joho has an extensive political and business background. He previously served as the Member of Parliament for Kisauni for five years and as the Governor of Mombasa for ten years. Beyond politics, Joho is an entrepreneur. He founded and directed Prima Pest and Bins Ltd, the first garbage collection company in Mombasa. Additionally, he is the founder of M-tech Kenya and East Africa Terminals, reflecting his diverse business interests and contributions to regional development.
