Police are investigating a murder after the body of a woman was found on the roadside off Ngong Road in Karen, Nairobi.
Pedestrians discovered the body on the evening of Tuesday, August 6, long after the woman had apparently died. Police reported that the body had no visible injuries.
A team that visited the scene at the border of Ngong and Karen, near a bar, noted a clutch next to the body. It is unclear if the woman had disabilities, according to police.
Investigators estimated the victim to be about 50 years old. At the scene, they recovered a kitchen knife with no blood marks, a pair of rubber shoes, a red scarf, and a clutch beside the body.
Police suspect the woman was killed elsewhere and her body was dumped at the scene. The motive for the murder is yet to be established.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei stated that they are considering all possible causes of death, including murder, natural death, and suicide. “We do not know what happened for now. We are open to all theories,” he said.
The body has been moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
