Adil Khan, the brother of the late rally driver Asad Khan on Wednesday testified that Asad’s fatal injuries were inflicted by another person, not self-inflicted.
Adil stated that these injuries led to a bacterial blood infection, ultimately causing Asad’s death while receiving treatment at Avenue Hospital in Parklands.
Adil Khan also disclosed that Asad had underlying health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and liver complications, at the time of the altercation with his then-girlfriend, Maxine Wahome, on December 12, 2022, at their Kileleshwa apartment.
Adil further revealed that Asad struggled with alcohol abuse and had a history of violence towards women. He mentioned that on the night of the incident, Asad had consumed a considerable amount of alcohol, including a full bottle of Jameson and other hard drinks.
Regarding the attack, Adil expressed doubt that Maxine Wahome acted alone in injuring Asad, suggesting that others might have been involved.
The defense, led by lawyer Philip Murgor had argued that Asad’s injuries were self-inflicted when he allegedly kicked a door pane, resulting in severe injuries to his leg.
Adil countered this claim, arguing that Asad’s height would have prevented him from breaking the door pane in the manner described.
The case’s hearing is scheduled to continue on October 1.
