An 11-year-old boy has tragically died after being struck in the stomach while playing with his sibling in Mutuati, Igembe North, Meru County.
According to the family and police, the boy was with his sibling herding cattle when he was hit in the stomach with a stone.
The assailant, believed to have been playing at the time, admitted to the family that he had thrown the stone, unintentionally hitting the boy.
Following the incident, which occurred on August 30, the boy returned home complaining of stomach pains.
On September 1, after his condition worsened, he was taken to Kiegu Nursing Home. He was then referred to a hospital in Maua for further treatment, but the parents informed the police they could not afford the costs required to seek treatment there.
Sadly, the family returned home, and the boy succumbed to his injuries the next day.
