National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah has recounted a dramatic incident involving Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi during a meeting at a State Lodge. According to Ichung’wah, the meeting took a chaotic turn when Gachagua physically confronted Itumbi for allegedly not following his instructions.
In an interview on Spice FM, Ichung’wah claimed that the Deputy President stormed into the meeting, grabbed Itumbi by the collar, and demanded to know why he had not tweeted as directed. The Kikuyu MP described Gachagua’s actions as petty and vindictive, suggesting that his rise to the position of Deputy President had exposed certain aspects of his character.
“I don’t know what to say about a person holding high office who walks into a meeting at the State Lodge and grabs a junior officer, Dennis Itumbi, by the collar, threatening him with physical assault just because he didn’t tweet what he was told to tweet,” Ichung’wah remarked. “Why be so petty and vindictive with leaders just because they’re not bowing to you or hailing you as the greatest?”
Ichung’wah went on to criticize Gachagua for allegedly attempting to frustrate those who associated with individuals he disliked. He questioned the Deputy President’s behavior, citing instances where he had belittled and insulted other leaders.
“Why would you belittle your MP, telling everyone how much dowry you paid at his wedding, and how much time and money you spent, as if it’s a competition? And why would you insult a lady representing Baringo County, calling her a prostitute, just because she was working with someone you don’t like?” Ichung’wah asked, referring to Kiambaa MP Kawanjiku and Baringo MP Florence Jematiah.
Ichung’wah has been vocal in his criticism of the Deputy President, accusing him of tribal and divisive politics. Meanwhile, Gachagua has warned that ‘rebel leaders’ from Mt. Kenya who refuse to follow his leadership will face consequences from the voters.
