The man who gained nationwide attention after a viral video of him emerging alive from this week’s horrific crash at Londiani has said that it was God who saved him.
Daniel Osieko, a biology teacher and preacher has expressed his belief that divine intervention spared him from the deadly accident that occurred on Tuesday.
Speaking for the first time since the accident, Osieko has recounted that he was seated between the driver and a passenger when the crash happened.
“I was just looking at my phone, seated between the driver and the passenger next to the door. Suddenly, this truck appeared, and it felt like it was losing control,” he said.
“Then, as our matatu driver was trying to escape a pothole, the truck rammed into us, and all I remember was hearing this loud bang,” he said.
He described the aftermath, noting that he saw the driver hit the steering wheel and observed the bodies of deceased and injured passengers.
“After the crash, I lost consciousness and only regained awareness when the viral video was recorded by bystanders who found me in the wreckage. I was unaware of the situation but firmly believe that I witnessed God’s protection that day,” he said.
Osieko was taken to a hospital in Muhoroni for treatment of minor injuries and underwent a CT scan to check for potential brain damage.
Fortunately, the scan showed no significant issues, and he expressed his gratitude for his recovery.
Reflecting on the incident, Osieko mentioned that he had recently been involved in missionary work and speculated that the accident might have been a counter-attack against his efforts.
The tragic accident occurred on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway in Kipsitet, Koguta, claiming the lives of at least nine individuals on the afternoon of September 3.
