Kenyan musician and songwriter Nadia Mukami has made it clear that if her partner, fellow artist Arrow Bwoy, ever took a second wife, she would walk away from the relationship. Speaking during an interview with SPM Buzz, Nadia shared her stance when asked about the possibility of Arrow Bwoy marrying a second wife, as allowed by Islamic traditions.
“He can’t find someone like me…where will he give? I’m a full package,” Nadia confidently stated. “If he brings someone else, of course, I’ll just leave. If someone doesn’t want me, I’ll walk away—I’m so good at that.”
Her remarks come a few months after Arrow Bwoy revealed his desire to marry a second wife in order to expand their family, as he expressed a wish to have more children. However, Nadia has been hesitant about the idea.
Aside from her personal life, Nadia also spoke on the importance of equality in the music industry, particularly with regard to gender parity and fair compensation for all artists. “Make sure there is gender equality. If there are five male artists, there should be five female artists…and pay the artists well. It is very expensive to be an artist, especially a female artist,” she emphasized.
In addition to her stance on relationships and equality, Nadia is riding high on the success of her debut album, Queen of the East, which dropped on August 30. The album features a special collaboration with Sauti Sol’s Bien Aime on a track that has already been dubbed the “wedding song of the season.”
Nadia celebrated the overwhelming response to her album on social media, sharing that Queen of the East garnered over 480,000 streams on Spotify Africa in just 72 hours. “BIG ALBUM!!!!! BIG HITS!!! QUEEN OF THE EAST HAS HIT OVER 480,000 STREAMS ON @spotifyafrica alone in 72 hours!!!! Thank you kaNadians!! Link on Bio and let’s get to 1 Million streams!!!” she posted excitedly.
The album’s listening party, held on August 29, also highlighted the significance of the project for Nadia. Dressed in purple, a color she described as special to her, she expressed both excitement and nerves as she introduced her debut work to her fans. Explaining the title, Queen of the East, Nadia said, “I am a notable figure, a notable female artist from East Africa. I have been topping charts for quite some time now, and I felt like it’s time to now stamp my mark in the East African scene and Africa in general.”
