A Nyeri court has directed the management of Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County to discontinue its boarding section following a tragic dormitory fire that occurred on September 7, 2024, which claimed the lives of 21 pupils.
The court ruled that the boarding facilities do not meet the required safety standards necessary for housing the more than 250 pupils enrolled as boarders.
Additionally, the court criticized the school’s management for hastily reopening the institution without adequately ensuring the safety of the pupils.
