Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made alarming claims regarding attempts on his life, including alleged incidents of poisoning. Speaking outside Karen Hospital on Sunday after being discharged, Gachagua revealed that he remains under medical observation at home. He recounted instances where his safety was threatened, saying that during a tour in Kisumu on August 30, undercover security personnel entered his hotel room, bugged it, and attempted to poison his food, a scheme he managed to evade.
Gachagua also mentioned a second alleged attempt in September in Nyeri, where another group reportedly tried to poison food meant for him and the Kikuyu Council of Elders. Following these incidents, he expressed growing mistrust in his own security team and had intelligence officers removed from his office due to safety concerns. He linked the failed assassination attempts to the subsequent impeachment motion, suggesting a broader plot against him.
