Baltasar Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency, has responded to allegations linking him to extramarital affairs involving the wives of prominent figures. Engonga dismissed the allegations as a smear campaign by rivals aiming to tarnish his reputation, claiming that the videos circulating online have been digitally altered using AI technology.
In a public statement, Engonga addressed the people of Equatorial Guinea, saying, “I want to tell the people… those videos are AI-edited; my enemies are trying so hard to bring me down. For your information, this is not me.” He also expressed gratitude to his family for their unwavering support, calling his wife his “hero” and asking her to take care of their children if anything were to happen to him. “You are not just my wife, but my hero,” he said, adding that his family’s strength has been his own anchor through these challenging times.
Engonga criticized the motives behind the video release, arguing that it exposed young people to inappropriate content, which he claimed caused more harm to society than to him personally. In a reflective tone, he reminded his critics of the biblical passage, “Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone,” urging a more compassionate approach.
Engonga has insisted he is only married to one woman.
“I only have one wife and my 6 children They keep me going We are a happy family They are my Everything God Bless Equatorial Guinea.”
He is alleged to have slept with different women, some of them are wives of fellow politicians.
