Detectives have arrested Otieno Omondi in Kisumu in connection with the murder of Willis Ayieko Onyango, a former HR Manager at Wells Fargo. Omondi, a motorcycle rider, is suspected of transporting Victor Ouma, also known as Sisco, to the location where Ayieko was abducted. Omondi admitted to receiving Ksh 9,000 for his involvement, describing how he took Ouma, who was wearing a blue jacket, to the crime scene. CCTV footage has since confirmed Ouma’s presence in this jacket at various locations. Omondi further disclosed that he followed Ouma to a house in Gem, where the victim was being held. Ouma allegedly exited with a Samsung phone, which they used in subsequent transactions.
Victor Ouma Okoth is currently in custody, linked to the crime alongside his late brother, Robert Wakolo Okoth, who had a history of violent robberies. Wakolo was wanted for various criminal activities, including the January 27, 2024 fatal shooting of an Mpesa agent in Kisumu. His father confirmed his identity, clarifying that Wakolo went by several aliases, including George Oduor Okoth and Kim. A national ID card, retrieved from a police exhibit store, validated this claim.
Wakolo was fatally shot in a recent police operation at Mulberry Guest House, opposite Kisumu National Polytechnic. Detectives found a Smith and Wesson pistol at the scene. Wakolo had narrowly escaped an earlier police chase, leaving behind a vehicle and a severely injured female passenger, who later died from her injuries. Police investigations are ongoing as they continue to piece together the full circumstances surrounding Ayieko’s murder and other associated crimes.
