Body by Design Kenya, a facility marketed for its cosmetic procedures, has come under scrutiny after revelations it was never licensed to conduct plastic or cosmetic surgeries. Official documents show that the facility, registered as a beauty spa in 2022 under Omnicare Medical Limited—a company authorized only as a Level IV counseling center—lacks any certification to perform procedures like liposuction, Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), breast lifts, and other surgeries it has advertised.
This comes after investigations following the death of Lucy Wambui Ng’anga, who passed away days after a surgery at Body by Design. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding her death, with her husband claiming that facility staff dismissed his concerns about her severe symptoms as part of “the healing process.” He later learned that Lucy’s condition was linked to intestinal perforations caused by the procedure, which resulted in bowel leakage into her internal organs.
The facility’s owners have since taken legal action to challenge its closure, arguing that Lucy’s pre-existing respiratory and chest issues contributed to her complications. However, an autopsy report from a government pathologist attributed her death directly to surgical perforations, escalating questions over the facility’s practices and oversight.
