The owners of Body by Design Kenya have been legally prohibited from resuming operations following the tragic death of Lucy Wambui Ng’ang’a. The court issued this order on Tuesday after the clinic’s owners sought to overturn its closure. Authorities have since determined that Body by Design, operating under Omnicare Medical Ltd., was not licensed as a medical or cosmetic surgery clinic, but rather as a beauty spa and counseling center, which raises concerns about its compliance with healthcare regulations.
Lucy Wambui, who underwent liposuction and a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) at the clinic, suffered fatal complications. An autopsy report revealed that her intestines were ruptured during the surgery, leading to leakage of intestinal waste into other organs, resulting in organ failure.
Her burial was today attended by prominent figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. In response to the tragedy, her husband, Francis Ng’ang’a, has committed to covering legal fees for others who may have experienced adverse effects due to procedures at Body by Design. Her family has vowed to seek justice, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future.
