Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, made headlines by casting his first-ever vote in a United States election on Tuesday. The artist, known for hits like’Kante’ shared his excitement in a post on X.com, where he displayed a sticker reading “I’m a Georgia voter. I secured my vote!” along with the caption, “First-time voter!”
Davido’s participation came as Americans cast their votes in a presidential election, choosing between Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump. Earlier, he had urged Americans to stay safe while performing their civic duties.
“Election day y’all be safe as you perform your constitutional rights.”
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 21, 1992, Davido holds dual citizenship by birth. His voting milestone follows his recent recognition by the Georgia General Assembly in December 2023 as an outstanding citizen.
Just last year, Davido and his wife, Chioma, welcomed twins, a boy and a girl, in the U.S., adding to the singer’s list of personal and professional milestones in recent months.
