Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the primary suspect in the recent murders of three women in Eastleigh, Nairobi, will remain in police custody for 21 days as investigations continue. Dagane appeared at the Makadara Law Courts on November 4, where detectives sought his detention, citing that he poses a flight risk.
Dagane was arrested on November 3, 2024, by DCI detectives in the Kamukunji area. His capture followed 12 days after he was linked to the murders of Amina Abidarashid, Nusayba Abdi, and Warris Daud, whose bodies were found in various locations across Nairobi and Machakos. Detectives revealed that he was in possession of multiple fake documents, including a fraudulent Kenyan ID.
Further investigation has revealed that Dagane previously served as a police officer in Ethiopia but was arrested and jailed on murder charges before fleeing to Kenya, where he established a taxi business in Eastleigh and Parklands. Police allege that Dagane had connections with the murdered women and had been involved in an extortion racket in Nairobi.
Preliminary findings indicate that Dagane, 34, was driving a Nissan Note, caught on CCTV, picking up the victims from their Eastleigh residence on October 21, 2024. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned at Wakulima Market and has since been taken to DCI Headquarters for forensic analysis.
