Mariam Mjahid, a former K24 news anchor, has secured a new position with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). She shared the exciting news on her social media, expressing her readiness to advance her journalism career with the renowned international media outlet. Mjahid wrote, “Bismillah: Sura mpya, changamoto mpya, na ndoto zinazoanza kuchanua,” which translates to a new chapter, new challenges, and dreams beginning to bloom.
Her departure from MediaMax, the company behind K24, came on October 25, 2024, after which she reflected on her time at the station. Mjahid noted that her journey at K24 had ended on a positive note, as she had grown into an experienced journalist, editor, and producer.
“I remember it like yesterday when we started our TV program ‘Mchipuko’ and we linked up in the Swahili language. I’m proud of my other segment, ‘MWANAMKE NA UONGOZI’ (Women in Leadership).
“I leave when I’m an editor and a producer for several programs and an experienced journalist,” she said
Mjahid also took the opportunity to thank her colleagues and K24 management, including Group CEO Ken Ngaruiya, Swahili Desk Head Shaban Ulaya, and English Desk Head Ellen Wanjiru, for their support. She ended her farewell with, “Leaving here is not the end but the start of a new season. Goodbye for now until we meet again. Adios😎.”
