A suspect has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of journalist Lilian Achieng Aluko, whose body was discovered in a house in Kahawa West, Nairobi. The arrest took place four days after Achieng’s death, with the main suspect apprehended in the Kaanwa area of Tharaka Nithi County.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) worked closely with local authorities in Meru County to track down the suspect, whose movements had been monitored since he disappeared on November 1.
The suspect, believed to be Achieng’s lover, is now under investigation as authorities piece together what happened on the fateful night. Police investigations revealed that Achieng and the suspect spent the evening at a local establishment before heading to the suspect’s house in Kahawa West.
What transpired inside remains unclear, but neighbors reported hearing loud music and screams coming from the house. It is believed the loud music may have been played to drown out Achieng’s cries for help.
A few hours later, Achieng’s lifeless body was found at the suspect’s residence, with visible facial injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear. Interestingly, the suspect left behind the murder weapon, a knife, which has been collected as evidence.
