Kenyan music sensation Bahati, aka Kevin Kioko, poured his heart out in a touching message to his foster son, Morgan, as they both celebrated their birthdays on December 22.
That’s right—they share the same birthday! But wait, there’s more to this story than just cake and candles.
Bahati’s journey into fatherhood started 12 years ago when he adopted Morgan from ABC Children’s Home in Mathare.
At the time, Bahati admitted he was far from ready to be a parent. But Morgan changed everything.
“Dear son Morgan,” Bahati began his post, “12 years ago, I wasn’t ready for fatherhood, but you became my life’s greatest blessing. You were an angel sent by God, a son, a friend, and the key that opened my doors to becoming a responsible family man.”
Who knew the guy behind the hit tracks would also be dropping life goals left, right, and center?
Sharing a birthday with your dad is cool, but Bahati hinted at an even deeper reason behind their shared special day.
“Do you know why we share a birthday?” he teased. “Some things I’ll let you know when you grow up.”
Bahati didn’t stop there. He vowed to be Morgan’s biggest cheerleader, protector, and guide, writing, “I’ll always be here to provide, protect, empower, and love you until you achieve all your dreams.”
In true Bahati fashion, the father of five wrapped up his tribute with a prayer for divine guidance.
“I pray that God grants you the desires of your heart and helps your mum, Diana, and me as we raise you and your siblings,” he shared. Talk about #ParentingGoals!
Bahati’s wife, Diana Marua, also chimed in with her gratitude for Morgan.
In past interviews, she’s revealed that Morgan was part of Bahati’s life long before she came into the picture. And guess what? He was the first to call her “Mom.”
“When I met Baha, I found he’d already adopted three kids—Purity, Morgan, and Rose. Morgan won Bahati’s heart at an event, and that’s how he came to live with us,” Diana shared.
She even credited their family’s blessings, like their cars and houses, to Morgan’s positive energy.
While Bahati originally fostered three children, he could only bring Morgan home due to strict adoption rules and his own financial struggles at the time.
“I took in Morgan, Rose, and Purity, but I couldn’t meet the criteria to adopt girls. Returning them to the children’s home was the hardest decision of my life,” he confessed.
