Stephanie Kiuna, the daughter of Kathy Kiuna and the late Bishop Allan Kiuna has opened up about the heartbreaking experience of missing her father’s funeral and the emotional journey of coping with his loss.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, Stephanie, who resides in Australia, explained that visa-related challenges made it impossible for her to travel back to Kenya to attend the funeral.
“There’s nowhere on God’s green earth I would have rather been than at my dad’s funeral,” Stephanie shared tearfully. “We were so close, and it’s still hard to talk about. We tried everything we could, but it just didn’t work out.”
Bishop Allan Kiuna passed away on July 9, 2024, in Nairobi after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was laid to rest in Thindigua, Kiambu County. Stephanie expressed deep regret at not being physically present but emphasized that her bond with her father was much deeper than her absence at the ceremony.
“The last time I saw him was during Christmas,” she recounted. “That memory holds a special place in my heart because he always pushed me to pursue my dreams, including starting my YouTube channel. He believed in my potential more than I did.”
During the session, Stephanie also touched on her life in Australia, her marriage to Ethan, and raising their two children. She reflected on her mother, Kathy Kiuna, as a source of strength and inspiration during these challenging times. Stephanie revealed plans to have a wedding ceremony in Kenya to honor her roots and celebrate with her loved ones. “I’ll only get married once, so I want it to be exactly the way I envision it.”
Despite the grief of losing her father, Stephanie expressed gratitude for the love and wisdom he imparted, which continue to inspire her life and endeavors. “His legacy is something I’ll always carry with me,” she concluded.
