Quinter Achieng Matengo, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after being caught attempting to smuggle cannabis to Doha, Qatar.
The arrest occurred when Ms. Achieng’s luggage was screened at the airport, revealing approximately 2,000 grams of cannabis cleverly concealed inside maize flour packets.
The Anti-Narcotics Unit has taken the seized drugs into safe custody and is in the process of preparing the suspect for arraignment.
This incident highlights the ongoing vigilance of law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking through Kenyan airports. Authorities continue to urge travelers to adhere to strict guidelines and avoid engaging in illegal activities.
