Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has unveiled an exciting opportunity for boda boda riders, with 600 job openings in Dubai.
In a statement released on Thursday, December 5, CS Mutua confirmed that officials from a UAE-based company would be in Kenya next week to interview and hire motorcycle riders.
The riders will receive a monthly salary of 2,925 dirhams (approximately Ksh 104,000) for 26 working days, with no tax deductions.
Candidates wishing to apply must possess a valid Kenyan passport or proof of an ongoing eCitizen application, along with a current Certificate of Good Conduct or proof of an ongoing eCitizen application for it.
A valid rider’s license is also required, though previous experience is not mandatory, although it is considered an advantage.
“Motorcycle riders are strongly encouraged to apply. Those selected will undergo a four-month training program in Dubai, where they will receive assistance in obtaining UAE riding licenses,” the notice added.
Interviews will be conducted in Nairobi and Malindi. The Nairobi interviews are scheduled for December 9th, 10th, and 11th, 2024, at Kamukunji TVC, next to Kamukunji Primary, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Malindi’s interviews will be held on December 13th and 14th, 2024, at Kilifi North TVC, Watamu Town, next to Watamu Primary, also from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Labour Ministry officials will be present at the interviews to ensure the recruitment process is ethical.
“Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to Dubai before the end of the year. I encourage all hustlers, especially boda boda riders, to seize this opportunity and try their luck,” CS Mutua concluded.
