TV show host and social media influencer Nana Owiti has broken her silence about her recent split from rapper and musician King Kaka, describing 2024 as a year filled with profound transitions.
Reflecting on the end of their over-a-decade-long relationship, Nana shared candidly how both she and the father of her two children are adjusting to their new reality.
“It’s uncharted territory, but we’re hanging in there,” the football enthusiast revealed, acknowledging that navigating such a deeply personal matter is far from easy.
Despite the challenges, Nana characterized 2024 as a year of both highs and lows—a yin-yang balance of sorts. When asked to pick a song that encapsulates her experience, she humorously chose DJ Khaled’s 2010 anthem All I Do Is Win.
She also reflected on the elusive concept of balance, admitting, “Balance is an illusion. The more you chase it, the more it evades you. So, I always remind myself to just do the best I can, whenever I can.”
Nana credited her faith as a vital source of strength during this tumultuous period. Smiling brightly, she expressed gratitude for how her relationship with God has provided clarity and grace amid the storm. “God has been amazing to me,” she said. “In every storm, He has shown up for me, turning things around in my favor.”
Amid the personal upheaval, Nana shared one of her more surreal experiences of 2024—going viral. Laughing as she recalled the moment, she said, “You guys made me trend, and for all the wrong reasons! I’ve never trended in Kenya before, and honestly, I didn’t like it. You guys are bad,” she joked, adding that life in the limelight isn’t her cup of tea.
Earlier this week, the announcement of Nana and King Kaka’s separation shocked fans, marking the end of one of Kenya’s most high-profile relationships.
The couple, who had been together for 13 years, share two children, including their daughter Gweth, born in 2014. However, the same year also tested their relationship, as King Kaka admitted to an affair with singer Sage Chemutai, which resulted in the birth of another child.
Reflecting on that painful chapter in a past interview, Nana admitted it felt like “the ultimate betrayal,” leading to a seven-month separation. However, she explained that Kaka’s genuine apology and their mutual willingness to work through their issues brought them back together. “We all have baggage,” Nana remarked at the time, “but it varies from one person to another.”
